Smart Cars: Are They A Smart Investment?

According to a recent article published in the Bangor Daily News, some people are still somewhat skeptical about just how smart of an investment the Smart Cars are. By now, most people have heard or the Smart Cars, but for those who don’t know, here is a little breakdown of what and who it is:

  • member of Mercedes-Benz cars
  • over 900,000 vehicles sold in 36 other countries throughout the world
  • introduced to the United States in January of 2008
  • currently 2 models available for sale in the USA
  • smart USA will eventually have a dealership network of over 70 smart centers across the country
  • excluding other fees, vehicles will cost between 11k and 17k
  • top speeds for the smart car are around 90mph
  • gas mileage is 33 city/41 highway with the gas tank holding 8.7 gallons

Overall, it seems like a pretty good deal, right? But for some who are concerned about vehicle safety as well as where to put their kids, groceries and sporting equipment, it might be a more difficult sell. I guess people can just think of it like a mini sports car (if that makes any sense). But for many of us who are suffering at the gas pumps every day, getting over 30 miles per gallon is a hard deal to turn down!
