“Prestigious” Car Show Comes to an End
Well if ever there was a topic to be posted on an auto shipping web site, it is this as reported by the LaCrosse Tribune:
For some it was a walk down memory lane, while others used it as a chance to see almost 200 vehicles from a by-gone era up close.
The 63rd annual AAA Revival Glidden Tour spent its last day in La Crosse with most of the cars on display Friday morning at Riverside Park.
The vehicles, built after 1942, were on display for the public as the vehicle owners answered questions, visited with each other or took time to walk through the park.
The tour, the largest and most prestigious antique automobile tour in the country, wrapped up its six-day run with a banquet Friday evening.
I bring up the “auto shipping” comment because you know most of those cars must have been shipped to the starting point! The show looked to be a great display of some fine vintage autos, and as always, the throngs turned up to see the nostalgia on wheels. James Cross commented that:
“People get a big kick out of seeing the cars. … It brings back a lot of memories for folks. They say, ‘We had that when we were first married’ and things like that. But some of the cars are over 100 years old, so there’s nobody left around who remembers it.”
