11 Steps for How to Change a Flat Tire on Your Car

Sometimes, getting a flat tire is simply unavoidable.  In the rare event that it does happen and you don’t want to sit around for 45 minutes to a few hours waiting for someone to come change it for you, the following video provides some great instruction on how to take matters into your own hands.  Before you watch the video though, there are some things you’ll need to keep in mind.

What You’ll Need When Changing a Flat

  • spare tire
  • a jack
  • a lugnut wrench
  • owner’s manual (most are available online now under the owner’s section)

11 Steps That Are Involved

  1. Stay Calm
  2. Consult the Owner’s Manual
  3. Get all of the Tools
  4. Remove the Hubcap and then Remove the Lugnuts on the Wheel
  5. Position the Jack
  6. Jack up the Car
  7. Completely Remove the Wheel Nuts
  8. Remove the Flat Tire
  9. Put on the Spare Tire (w/ the air valve facing out)
  10. Lower the Car
  11. Follow Up & Drive to a Garage to have the damaged tire fixed
