your being totally short sighted hear, you cant even think that every 16-17 year old will end up in a car crash, yes you have you stats but thats not that much of a terrifying statistic, im sure you would of wanted to drive as quick as you could of when you was 16-17, thats what the problem is in this world, short sighted people like this who dont let the growing generation experience anything for them selves, we are the future.....

Comment on What is the Future for American Cars? 10 American Cars That Don’t Stink by 2003m3

Let's take it one at a time:

1.- Leave Pontiac G8 out. It is Australian-designed and built Holden Commodore, a great sports sedan, but it does not belong here if we are discussing American cars. If we let this one in, we could bring in Saab, Opel, Volvo or Jaguar, as they are made by subsidiaries of the Big Three.

2.- Buick Enclave: not a car and not a offroad 4x4. People, if you desperately want to go off-road get a Jeep Wrangler; if you want to stay on the road please get a normal car.

3.- The Malibu, Flex and Fusion are attempts to create a mid-class car that is close to German or Japanese design and quality. Feeble attempts I think. If they were really good cars with global appeal, one would see them in Europe and Asia, instead of Accords, Passats, Jettas and Camrys, which do have global appeal.

4.- The Mustang is a muscle car with a big engine, but a chassis that does not keep up: bad brakes, mushy steering and a top-heavy body prone to huge amounts of body roll. A Mustang GT may impress someone with its smoking start from a red light, but a true sports car it isn't.....

5.- The Corvette: the only American truly world-class sports car, a well balanced package of engine and chassis, capable of holding its own against Aston Martin or Lamborghini. For several years, the American Corvette team won the GT1 class at the 24 Hours of LeMans. Last year they went against the Astons and lost. Let's see how they do this weekend...

6.- Cadillac CTS: now here is a car that actually IS seen overseas in Europe and in Asia. The new generation of Cadillacs does look good and tried to erase the long-lasting image of a Caddy as a road yacht. maybe performs well. I do have continuing reservations about quality, though. I recently rented a car in Prague and the agency gave me a Caddy. I got with it as far as the gate and felt that one of the brake calipers sticks. I turned the Caddy in for a Skoda...

I'm frankly skeptical that any significant action will be taken on global warming until every drop of oil has been burned up. I mean, the industrialized countries are arguing over drilling rights in the arctic ocean as the ice cap melts away to make more drilling possible.

As a species, we just don't care about generations that will come after us. One's own kids and grandkids - that seems as far sighted as the average human's caring goes.
Hopefully we'll learn to do better but if we do looks to me like it will be the hard way. Just hard to imagine the leaders of the US, China, and India joining hands for a permanent committment to counter global warming, which is what it would take.

I think to make major mistakes and older and younger people and that is definitely no connection with the years but it depends on the seriousness of the man. When I take my driving my instructor often sed that focuses more on other people. I think that the strict punishment the only way that people understand the seriousness in the traffic.

I've had a smart car in Europe for almost 10 years... I've driven everywhere... mountainous terrain, super highways.... wit big MAC Trucks at my side... no problems! They handle great, they're safe...
I hate to tell you, but if you go 70mph in any car and target a wall for impact, you're most likely not going to make it no matter what car you're in!

Best advice, Stay away from walls! PERIOD!
