Air Powered Cars? What Else Will They Think of?
There is no limit to the imaginations of auto makers it seems. In keeping with the idea of hybrid technology, French engineer Guy Negre has apparently been working on the concept of an air-powered vehicle for over a decade now. India’s main car manufacturer, Tata Motors, has agreed to work with Negre on this endeavor.
How Does it Work?
According to the Air Car Factories web site:
Compressed air is an energy vector that ca be used in a viable way to transport both people and goods.
For a more detailed description of how compressed air vehicles work, you can click here. Additionally, according to a recent article,
The principle that makes this car work is very simple. Instead of using gas to create an explosion and make pistons move, the vehicle’s engine is powered via three compressed air tanks located under its chassis. Environmentally speaking, this means all that goes out the exhaust pipe is cold, pure air, which can even be used as an air-conditioning source on a hot summer day.
Americans aren’t too keen on the idea of air-powered cars, so maybe we’re just waiting to see how India reacts to it first before we jump on board. However, I think that any sort of alternative fuel source that helps to keep the environment clean as well as keeps money in my bank account is a great thing.

All this does is strain the power grid as people run their air compressors to power their cars. Unless it is more efficient it helps nothing.
I think it’s suspicious that we haven’t even seen a golf cart yet.
